Frankenpolish for Christmas

What is Frankenpolish?

Frankenpolish is the art of combining random nail polishes and glitters to create your very own masterpiece.

I know, I know... I actually had the nerve to mention Christmas in the title of this post but there is a reason... I promise!

Making your own polish isn't new.  You only have to visit Etsy to see a huge variety of venders that are selling homemade creations for you to buy.  However, I find those bottle are so expensive and living in Canada, the shipping can be even worse than the cost of the polish.  I'm not into starting up a business, but lately I have had a mission and in my attempt to conquer said mission, I actually decided that doing a little 'Frankenpolishing' would probably be my best bet.

The Mission:

To find a Christmas glitter polish similar to that of China Glaze's discontinued Party Hearty (Christmas 2011 collection).  I basically want a glitter polish that is ONLY in red, green and silver with lots of different sizes and LOTS of glitter.  This year, China Glaze opted to come out with Pizzazz which is great but, to me, not Christmasy at all!

The Tools:

To create a 'Party Hearty' worthy polish, you will need the following items:
  • A half empty bottle of clear polish (or you can use a lighly frosted polish similar to Zoya Snowsicle)
  • Micro and chunky glitter is red, green and silver
  • A base colour (optional)

The Process:

Step 1 - Open your bottle of polish and begin adding in the glitter in the amounts you feel with satisfy the look that you are hoping to achieve

Step 2 - Pour in some base colour (optional) to achieve the base colour you wish to have.  I choose to add in Zoya Snowsicle to give my polish a bit of a glisten to it

Step 3 - Close the polish and shake like nobody's business

Step 4 - Swatch and make adjustments as necessary

Step 5 - Name your creation and enjoy!!

The Results:

Holly Daze...

It's not quite the same but I am super happy with the results and will likely attempt a second, more green polish, as soon as I have a half empty bottle of clear polish again!!  It was so much fun and I think there is something cool about wearing UNIQUE polish!! :)

If you Franken your own polish, please let me see it by tagging my in your Instagram picture (lgentles4908) because I think this is a great, cheap alternative to buying discontinued polishes online.

Happy Frankening!!
