Today is a tour day on Turning the Pages... I am participating in a CLP Blog Tour for Forged in Fire by Trish McCallan. Forged in Fire is the first in the 'Forged' series and with a cover as swoon-worthy as this, how could I resist signing up?!

Summary (from amazon.com):

Beth Brown doesn’t believe in premonitions until she dreams a sexy stranger is gunned down during the brutal hijacking of a commercial airliner. When events in her dream start coming true, she heads to the flight’s departure gate. To her shock, she recognizes the man she’d watched die the night before.

Lieutenant Commander Zane Winters comes from a bloodline of elite warriors with psychic abilities. When Zane and two of his platoon buddies arrive at Sea-Tac Airport, he has a vision of his teammates’ corpses. Then she arrives — a leggy blonde who sets off a different kind of alarm.

As Beth teams up with Zane, they discover the hijacking is the first step in a secret cartel’s deadly global agenda and that key personnel within the FBI are compromised. To survive the forces mobilizing against them, Beth will need to open herself to a psychic connection with the sexy SEAL who claims to be her soul mate.

Review:

**NOTE: A copy of this book was provided by the author. However, no compensations were made and this review reflects my honest thoughts and feelings.**

I had no idea that I would be a fan of a genre that had the word 'Paranormal' in it because to me, that means ghosts and goblins and all sorts of weird/freaky things. However, the more that I read, the more I am enjoying it! I have also learned that 'Paranormal' can mean freaky and weird but more often than not, it's just having special abilities like mind-reading or seeing the future.

Forged in Fire's premise reminded me of the 'Final Destination' movies wrapped up in an episode of 24, which I loved. While I thought that the pace of the story was awesome and it really kept me on the edge of my seat, at times it seemed as though things were happening too fast. The entire novel happens in the span of a day, or even less, and the logical bone in my body kept saying 'as if he would be out already' or 'not possible'.

As far as characters go, Zane was my favourite. There is something so erotic when a man gets overly protective towards a woman that he loves and this book was full of that. Even though Beth drove me crazy with her 'She loves him, she loves him not' thoughts, the whole romantic connection between the two of them was wonderfully played out.

I went into Forged in Fire not realizing that it was a series and having a cliff-hanger at the end made me almost lose my marbles. However, I soon discovered that Forged in Ice will be out later this year and balance was restored. It will definitely become a must-read.

Overall, even though this novel did have a couple of downfalls, my feelings at the end of it were... WOW, what a ride!!
